On This Night of the Day After

I'm grateful for my good health and financial security and will look forward to embracing the passions that sustain me.

I'm fortunate to have a lifelong partner and loving daughter who share my values and a new grandson with whom I will spend as much time as possible through my remaining years.

I pledge to continue reflecting here regularly and will anticipate you joining me to celebrate moments of hope and joy.

  1. Thank you Pat. Tonight Judith and I were in a candlelight circle with loving friends. Each of us made similar commitments to embrace those we love and to continue to share our values with those we encounter. Some days that is the very best we can do. Bob Mann

  2. Thank you, indeed, Pat and Bob. During the 1st troubled reign of the Convicted Felon, our nephew and his wonderful family made us a calligraphy (hanging in our hallway) of a Leonard Bernstein quote: "This will be our response to violence: To make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before."
And Kamala gave a beautiful address today, such as I've never heard before, that "we will never give up" our work for a better world.

    1. Alan; Thanks for the comment and those heartening words of Leonard Bernstein. I'm really unsure how I'd manage the near future if I didn't have music to comfort me.

  3. “In darkness you can see stars.” Well we certainly are entering a period of darkness, but with our commitment to gratitude and love, we will be the stars.

    1. Ines; Thanks for the support about the sentiments in my post. I'm heartened that a few other readers who don't regularly make comments here decided to do so today to offer solace to those of us who need it.

  5. One day at a time, we must integrate what needs to be learned from this difficult experience.

  6. Hi Pat,

Your words and all the comments to your post were wonderful to read. Many friends here are too upset to talk or too bitter to want to talk to. I agree that we should continue with love, hope, music and gratitude for what we have as we continue to embrace each other and pray in our own ways for world peace. A very tall order!

    1. Jane; Thanks for adding to what others have said. I'm pleased if you found some small solace in the sentiments above. I want desperately to believe some of us will grow stronger from the trials that we might face. I'm concerned thinking about people more vulnerable or alone than I. Who will be their ally?

    1. Anonymous; Although I'm not feeling that great either, I've made up my mind to do as I stated in my post. It's the best I can manage right now.
